Melbourne’s Green Heart
Royal Botanical Gardens Victoria
At the very heart of Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens lies the Nature Science Precinct, a sanctuary for some of the world’s rarest and most endangered plant species. However, the Herbarium, which is crucial for preserving these vital plants, is at risk of closure.
It’s imperative to breathe new life into our Nature Science Precinct by establishing a new National Herbarium of Victoria. This modern facility will include an underground vault and state-of-the-art laboratory system, ensuring the continued survival of thousands of valuable and vulnerable plant species.
By revitalising this green oasis in Melbourne, we can secure the future of these plants for generations to come. Let us learn from them, celebrate their diversity, and cherish them as a vital part of our natural heritage.
